The BVI Development Centre is based in the UK’s Central Technology Belt.

BVI Scanners are being used during the validation period of The Body Volume Index through the international research project; The Body Benchmark Study (see www.bodybenchmark.org ) interested parties are invited to participate in The Body Benchmark Study. Costs of scanners for research purposes are negotiable.

The development of BVI is based on the assumption that body shapes of individuals are so different that peoples body types need to be better distinguished, this is not taken into account with BMI (Body Mass Index).
